The Crew – Overall Leaders
Em, Matt and Rachel are the overall leaders for Curtains Up! We are the people to talk to if you have any questions or concerns and we will do our best to help.
Em Rogerson
I’m Em. I grew up in Shakespeare’s town and now live in the city of Doctor Who, love to chat and watch MCC. My current paid job is in a school nursery where I’ve had many serious conversations and learned a lot about extremes of emotion, determination and how to do life when the world doesn’t see things the way you do. Which is pretty good preparation for another great creative week at CU!
Matt Rogerson
I’m have spent over 25 years working backstage and can usually be found designing, building and fixing lighting, sound and video systems! When I’m not doing that I’m kept quite busy being a Dad and a very proud space geek!
I have been involved in with Curtains Up! since the 1st year it ran back in 1999, I took over leadership of CU! with Em in the summer of 2003.
In 2024 took on the Chair of the trustees in the new charity setup to support the continued running of the newly independent Curtains Up!
Rachel Kempton
I have been working with Curtains Up! for over 12 years. Starting out as Cast and then becoming Crew. I am usually a Drama and Dance teacher but at the moment I am mainly a fulltime mum to Henry (aka pooping potato).
Em would like add that Rachel was part of the 2012 opening ceremony which we are all still very excited by!
I was an overall leader with Em for Centre Stage which was a younger age range holiday from the CU! team, which ran in 2019 & 2020.
In 2024 I joined Em and Matt and part of the Curtains Up! leadership.
